Kumho Tires

Young-Doo Yoon was born in October 14, 1951 during the Korean War. After growing up in a war torn country he matriculated into Kyunggi High School in 1969. In 1972 he was admitted to Seoul National University where he later obtained his Bachelor’s in meteorology. In 1977, while finishing up his degree he began working for Kumho & Co. Inc. He worked with that company for 15 years before being promoted to General Manager over the American region for Kumho Tires in 1992. For the next 13 years he worked in the tire industry being promoted to Senior Vice President of Labor Relations in 1999 and then again as President of Kumho Tires Europe in 2003. In 2005 he accepted the challenge of switching to another member company of the Kumho Asiana Group, Asiana Airlines. His first position at Asiana Airlines was as Executive Vice President. This role was not to last long however, as a mere three years later he was once again promoted, this time as President and CEO of Asiana Airlines. Yoon resides in South Korea with his wife, Jeong-Yi, and has two sons.
