FiSMA is a not for profit organisation seeking to encourage enterprise within the UK by providing a low-cost, secure environment where investors can meet and communicate with entrepreneurs and each other online. On FiSMA, we aim to replicate the real-life E2I (entrepreneur to investor) experience by using enhanced social networking technology in an intuitive way. Investors get to see interesting investment opportunities and entrepreneurs get to showcase their businesses. FiSMA has been developed by former City lawyers who are familiar with financial services law. The site allows E2I communications in a way which facilitates compliance with the complex UK law dealing with financial promotions. We have built in safeguards such as self-certification for investors and confidentiality agreements to protect the entrepreneurs.The founder of FiSMA is Tom Mackay. When he was making money during the dot-com era one of his clients persuaded him to give something back and he set up Tomslaw which was a web site giving free precedent documents to entrepreneurs and their investors.
